Going deeper in to God - Transforming Communities - Making new Disciples
Lent Continues and Rev Alex has been with us for a Year!
A nice spring morning brought a good size congregation into church last Sunday, to enjoy a well presented service of Holy Communion from the Rev Alex Wheatley. It is almost a year now since the Rev Alex joined us from a church in the Diocese of Leeds, and over that year we have learned a lot about each other and to give Rev Alex his due, he has overcome extremely well the nervousness he obviously felt when he first set a step inside our door! To be fair, this was Rev Alex’s first appointment where he was to run his own Parish, or in our case, a Benefice of three parishes. He has done well over that year, and had Covid problems to deal with, but he has come through all this with a steady confidence and we will wish him many more years ahead serving our communities.
St Patrick’s Day Quiz Night
Due to unforeseen circumstances, we have had to cancel the Irish quiz evening we had planned for March 19th, maybe we can hold it on a future date, but for now all we can do is apologise for any inconvenience caused, but we’ll be back!
Easter not too many weeks away.
As we work our way through Lent, it will mean that Easter will not be far behind. A full programme of services has been planned and we hope many will come along when they can, to enjoy what Easter is really all about.
Hearts for Moggerhanger Ladies Group
Last week our church Ladies group, the Hearts for Moggerhanger, held a “nearly new” sale of childrens and ladies clothes. Astonishingly this raised £1000, one of the highest amounts they have ever raised. Look out for them tomorrow at the Potton Quarterly Market!
Potton Parish Lunch
On Friday 25th of March, at 12.45pm, we will be opening our church hall doors once again for the second lunch in our new season, which raises funds for St John’s Hospice at Moggerhanger. From then on, it will be the last Friday of every month, so make a note on your calendars. Please book in on arrival at the door and buy your place at a table for just £8 for a tasty 2 course meal, plus tea or coffee. You may donate items for our raffle in addition, but donated food items, MUST be in date, they will be checked! Cuddly toys only accepted if clean and in their original packing.
Thought for the Day
Nick Wilson, St Mary's Church organist, will present his popular "Thought for the Day" on Friday March 25th, Alan’s Breakfast Show on BigglesFM, 104.8Mhz on the dial. Nick will also remind you of the Parish Lunch of course! Don't forget to tune in!
