Last Sunday before Lent

Lent Starts on March 6th, are you ready ?

It was good to be back in St Mary’s on Sunday for the morning service. It must be three weeks at least since I’ve managed to get there but it was good to see everyone again and catch up with all the local news I have been missing. The Rev Alex Wheatley conducted the service of Holy Communion and included in his sermon today a real nice relaxing piece of music . This was called “Even when he is Silent” by Kim André Arneson and sung by Camcus. It was good to have a musical interlude so maybe Rev Alex will do this again! Next week’s service will again be Holy Communion with the Rev Alex.

As we move into Lent, we look towards those who live in our Parish who we could most help. We gather ideas and put these ideas into use as far as we can, Potton would appear the be an affluent little Town but scratch below the surface and a different picture emerges of some of our Community who struggle with heating, lighting and hot food. This is who we aim to help. Do contact a church member if you would like to help, and we’ll see what you can do to help up us. Thank you.

Nick Wilson, St Mary's Church organist, will present his popular "Thought for the Day", this Friday February 25th, during Alan’s Breakfast Show on BigglesFM, 104.8Mhz on the dial. Don't forget to tune in!

Also on Friday, at 12.45pm, we see the return of the popular Potton Parish Lunch, our major fundraiser for many years in aid of the St John’s Hospice at Moggerhanger. Two courses, choose from the menu of home cooked food, tea/coffee for £8, and a raffle! If bringing a raffle prize, please make sure food items are “in date” and please, no cuddly toys unless sealed in their original wrappings.

Coming soon: an “Irish Themed Quiz Evening”, 7.30pm on March 19th in the church hall. Make a note of the date for now and more details will follow very shortly.
