Easter Day, a real success this year at St Mary's!

Easter Day was just the sort of morning we wanted to see, sunny, mild and hardly a cloud in the sky. St Mary’s was soon to get busy with many people coming to what was to become a really wonderful service. The whole centre area of the church was soon full and as more people came in, the side aisles also filled up fairly quickly too. It was good to see our Rector, the Revd Alex Wheatley back with us after his recent spell of illness and he had put together a really nice Easter Day service. We also had the full choir present to lead the singing and sing the choral music during the Holy Communion part of the service. Of course, the highlight of the morning was the Easter Egg Hunt for the children, out in the well supervised churchyard, always a favourite activity! We are fairly sure all the eggs were found, and fairly quickly, no stone was left unturned! Also at this time in the Easter Garden, the large stone covering the entrance to Jesus’s tomb, was rolled back much to the delight of the children. Thank you to all those who organised the morning or carried out a special function during the service.
The 10.30am service next Sunday, April 16th, will be led and presided over by the Revd Canon Les Ogilvy from Everton who we welcome back once more. Canon Les is a retired priest who often helps us out when needed. However, as the Revd Alex is not available on that day, there will be no Zoom transmission for those who normally join in from home. Revd Alex apologises for any disappointment caused.
Confirmation Classes will begin on April 20th and will run for seven weeks. Anyone who wishes to join these sessions should contact the Rector as soon as possible. The Confirmation Service will be held at St Swithin’s Church, Sandy, on June 28th.
St George’s Day Service. This has been organised for our uniformed youth services for Saturday April 22nd, at 3pm at St Mary’s Church. More details next week.
