This week in the Benefice

The service last Sunday morning was our ever popular Friends and Family activity service with the theme of this week’s World Day of Prayer, an initiative led by the Mother’s Union. The service was led by Rosemary, our Mother’s Union leader at St Mary’s. Everyone present was given a paper leaf to write their prayer for the world on and then hang it on a small tree. The result was many different prayers, many different thoughts. The craft theme for the day followed on with the children making window decorations to decorate the plain window in church. The World Day of Prayer will be celebrated with the Mother’s Union on Friday March 6th at 2pm. The service next Sunday morning will be Choral Holy Communion with the Rev Ray Porter from Gamlingay.

We are holding a Lent Housegroup based on the Archbishop of Canterbury’s Lent book for 2020, “Saying Yes to Life”. Full details for the course with dates, will be found on our website and Facebook pages, or to join the group, call 01767 261470.

Our First Steps toddler and baby group will be meeting on Friday in the church hall at the usual time of 9.30am. Further details about the group from group leader Sandy on 01767 260430. Morning Prayer services will be held next week, on Tuesday and Friday at St Mary’s, both services at 9am. These services maybe cancelled at short notice if no leader is available. Every Friday afternoon at 2.45pm, a service is held at Sutton Church for all those in the Benefice who want to end the week with quiet prayer and communion with others. All are welcome.

Last Friday’s Parish Lunch in aid of St John’s Hospice, was well attended giving us a good start to this year’s fund raising effort. However, we could still seat a few more so please make a note in your diaries that it will be held on March 27th.
