This week in our Benefice
I must start this week’s column by apologising for a big gap since the last time I wrote one. Unfortunately, I had a spell in hospital, unexpectedly, so I was unable to bring the Church news to you, for the last three weeks. I’m on the mend, but still some more tests to be run I understand!

The Morning Service on Sunday was Choral Holy Communion with the Rev Canon Lyndsay Dew, once more standing in because of the vacancy for a new Incumbent. Things must be moving on with the vacancy and the application stage is over meaning that the next stage is the interviews. There’s still a long way to go though! The Morning Service next Sunday will be the Shorter Format Holy Communion with the Rev Margaret Marshall.
Our First Steps toddler and baby group will be meeting on Friday in the church hall at the usual time of 9.30am. Further details about the group from group leader Sandy on 01767 260430. Please note: First Steps no longer take a half term break and meet as usual during the school holiday.
Morning Prayer services will be held next week, on Tuesday and Friday at St Mary’s, both services at 9am. These services maybe cancelled at short notice if no leader is available. Every Friday afternoon at 2.45pm, a service is held at Sutton Church for all those in the Benefice who want to end the week with quiet prayer and communion with others. All are welcome.
On Friday February 21st, we once again will welcome our church organist, Nick Wilson to the local airwaves as he is giving his “Thought for the Day” at 8.15am on BigglesFM, 104.8 on the dial. Nick has some great stories and anecdotes and is well worth listening to! He will also give details of forthcoming events if they are available. Nick now does his talk every two weeks.
We are pleased to announce that the St John’s Hospice Moggerhanger, Potton Support Group, sponsored by St Mary’s Church, presented to Ethan, a representative from the Hospice at the January Parish Lunch, with a cheque for £4,300. This was the proceeds for last year’s lunches. Ethan gave a short talk on the uses our money is put to help run the Hospice. The next lunch is on Friday, February 28th at 12.45pm, in St Mary’s Hall, but we have had to raise the cost this year to £8. Full details will be given next week.
All other church activities, and any changes, can be found on our website: www.pottonparishchurch.org.uk and on our Facebook page with the very latest updated information
