Yesterday at St Mary's Church

Last Sunday morning the Service of Holy Communion was conducted by the Rev Gill Orpin, one of our team of visiting Priests during our Interregnum. In her sermon, the Rev Gill spoke of the Prophesy of Jeremiah, how he became a Prophet and how this affected his life.
In the evening, we hosted a wonderful service called “Little Stars” which was our contribution to the National Baby Loss Week. Rdr Simon Gutteridge led a service for many young, and some not so young, parents who came to remember babies and young children they have lost in past times, from miscarriage, still birth or illness. About 60 people came to this gentle service of prayer, music, remembrance and the chance to light a candle and place a star on a special tree of memory. Anyone who wanted to tell a short story about their lost one, was able to do this. Professional advisers were present to talk to those who needed help. After the service, refreshments were served allowing people to chat to each other and perhaps share experiences together. A wonderful service, we hope it brought hope to those that came along.
Next Sunday, the Rev Canon Lyndsay Dew will lead the shorter format service of Holy Communion with the aid of the Children and their Treasure Boxes. All are welcome.
