Mothering Sunday Report
The morning service last Sunday was the shorter format Holy Communion with a real flavouring towards Mothering Sunday. The Rev Gill Smith in her address, told of the role of Mothers since time began, citing the stories of famous Biblical Mothers as examples. Posies of flowers were then presented by the children present, to all of the Mothers present, but even to those whose mothers were no longer with us, in remembrance. The musical accompaniment to the service was provided by the Wilson family, Nick, (flute), Dolly, (clarinet), Suzanne, (keyboard), and Robert, (alto saxophone). This provided a very different setting for the popular hymns sung, a very pleasant sound. After the service, a delicious Simnel Cake made by Rosemary was served up along with the usual tea and coffee.
